The Butler County Recycling and Solid Waste District hosted its 26th Annual Recycled Sculpture Contest in November. Nearly 450 Butler County fourth and fifth grade students created sculptures using recycled materials.

The contest is held each year to raise community awareness of the importance of recycling and reuse, showcases young local artists and inspires us to reconsider the ordinary items we throw away in our daily lives.

The contest concluded with an awards ceremony at the Fitton Center in Hamilton. The top six winners were:

  • Mollie Couch from New Miami - "The Three 'R' Mermaid
  • Landon Sandlin from Ridgeway - "I Caught a Fish"
  • Sierra Mobarry from Crawford Woods - "River Theme"
  • Chloe Gabbard from Ridgeway - "Ridgeway"
  • Alexander Dainton from Ridgeway - "Ridgeway"
  • Matthew Blaylock from Morgan - "The Amazon Piranha"
